Instagram account @flowersincinema, curated by Iris Diane, deep dives into the cinematic archives to shine a light on some of the spectacular and unexpected instances of florals appearing on film. Oscillating between Hollywood staples, world cinema, music videos and more, Diane’s extensive collection of stills is a compelling resource and a joy to peruse.

Kortfilm “Double Bill” Collaboration | November 2024

I partnered with kortfilm.be, a Belgian independent online magazine focused on short films, for their "Double Bill" feature. After watching Martijn Van de Wiele’s stunning short Carnations (2021), I immediately thought of Sarah Pucill’s Swollen Stigma (1998). The two films complement each other beautifully, both delving into how flowers act as intricate symbols of beauty and struggle. Be sure to watch my short film curation here!

I collaborated with So.Textual which is a both a book club and newsletter. I curated a handful of my favorite book & reading scenes in film for their social media. From March 2022

on bedrooms as portraits / flowers in cinema meets of pearl | November 2024

I collaborated with Eva Berezovsky of Of Pearl on Substack, where we analyzed film scenes featuring bedrooms filled with flowers. I curated the stills, and together, we reflected on each one, exploring how these spaces serve as intimate portraits of the characters and the worlds they inhabit. Throughout our discussions, we also delved into the role flowers play in shaping these portraits.
